<abstract_fa>
</abstract_fa>
	<abstract>
Finding precise and expressive equivalents in lexical and idiomatic translation remains one of the fundamental challenges of the field, particularly in literary, mystical, and symbolic texts. Such texts are imbued with latent layers of meaning, emotional resonance, and cultural nuances whose rendering requires transcending formal equivalence in favor of dynamic equivalence. Kahlil Gibran’s "The Madman", among his most prominent symbolic and mystical works, comprises 35 parables and poetic short stories reflecting the author’s profound human, philosophical, and social insights; consequently, rendering it into Persian poses a rigorous test of a translator’s linguistic flexibility and equivalence skills. Employing a descriptive-analytical approach, this study analyzes the Persian translation of the work by Mousa Bidej (based on Antonius Bashir’s Arabic rendering) within the framework of Jean-René Ladmiral’s translation theory. Adopting a target-oriented, functional, and audience-centered approach, Ladmiral’s model emphasizes the reconstruction of meaning, interpretive decoding, and the prioritization of comprehension and readability in the target language. By liberating translation from rigid subservience to source-language formal structures, this theory proposes functional strategies and components, notably transposition/shift, defamiliarization/heterogenization, entropy, addition/disambiguation, and translator discretion. The findings indicate that in conveying the metaphorical motifs and multilayered themes of "The Madman", the translator adopted a deliberate target-oriented strategy grounded in the aforementioned components. The meticulous use of transposition prevented calque and unnatural phrasings, while addition and disambiguation substantially enhanced the accessibility of the text’s mystical double entendres and ambiguities. Furthermore, the targeted control of entropy mitigated the loss of the work’s symbolic dimensions. Overall, the convergence of these strategies demonstrates that the translator, through the effective application of Ladmiral’s model, succeeded in producing a fluent Persian rendering aligned with target-language syntax while remaining faithful to Gibran’s spiritual essence and philosophical depth, thereby delivering an aesthetically equivalent experience for the target readership.
</abstract>
