Conceptual metaphors in Badrshaker Siyab's poetry based on Likoff and Johnson's theory One of the most common theories about metaphor is the theory of George Likoff and Mark Johnson, which was proposed in 1980 with the publication of the book Metaphors We Live With. In this theory, based on experience and perception, one concept appears in another concept, and the basis of this relationship is based on correspondences between two sets and forms a conceptual mapping, which according to the theory of Likaff is the essence of metaphor mapping.  Badr Shaker Siyab, a contemporary Iraqi poet, according to his living conditions, prioritized the political and social tools of his time, therefore, by using this metaphorical literary tool, he revived his latent thoughts to life in the minds of the audience in an indirect way, which according to his ideological point of view is a body of content in the physical and mental body that is each of these two elements are confirm each other.  In this article, with a descriptive-analytical method, we have classified the conceptual metaphors in the general concepts of life, city, oppression, wealth, freedom, homeland, love, nature, and death in the poems of Badr Shaker Siyab. After reviewing the obtained patterns, the outcome indicates that, "death" is one of the concepts that has the highest frequency among other concepts, and the abstract concepts of travel and life have been transferred to this concept, as well as the directional themes used in Badr shaker Siyab's poetry, mainly from top to bottom or vice versa.
